Hi and thanks for visiting! I’m a Product Compliance Engineer by day and have a lot of hobbies that keep me busy in my non-work time, including what my wife Karen calls my Nutty Professor projects. The background picture is a view from what we hope will be our future backyard in Cody Wyoming.
The picture below is the view from across the highway facing north toward our development. Our lot is located on the left of this image near the base of the hills. Look for the Chinese Wall for the approximate location of our lot. Karen and I are planning on building a house on this lot and retiring there in the not-so-distant future. Current global conditions have created ridiculous construction costs, so we are waiting for those to stabilize and become more reasonable.
Our planned retirement home will be located at the eastern end of the Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic Byway (U.S. 14/16/20) which follows the North Fork of the Shoshone River through scenic Wapiti Valley at the Shoshone National Forest border to the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The 27 miles of paved Scenic Byway starts about 25 miles west of Cody. So we will be about 30 minutes from Cody and 45 minutes to Yellowstone. It’s a gorgeous drive from Cody through Buffalo Bill State Park into the Wapiti Valley and the byway proper, a geologist’s dream and the country that Teddy Roosevelt once called “the most scenic 50 miles in the world.” The byway ends in spectacular fashion at Sylvan Pass (el. 8530 ft./2600 m.) with a sweeping mountain view and the East Entrance to the world’s first national park, Yellowstone.
We are starting to populate this website with photo albums and some videos. We will include more information on the Wapiti area and our building plans in the future. Stay tuned! Dan’s new favorite radio station is KTAG in Cody. LISTEN IN!
